My friends and I also stayed at the Thompson LES after making a stop at the Ace Hotel for one night. I had stay at the Thompson 6 Columbus previously and enjoyed it. Love the hotel's proximity to the great bars and restaurant/grub places that make New York, New York. Design was modern. Love the expose concrete in the room. Rooms were spacious. Front Desk was nice when we checked-in, but seemed a little incompetent. When I did check-out a couple days later the hostess was not nice. I will always remember good and bad service. I will call the hostess, "Hotel Nazi". Hotel Nazi seemed to be keeping tabs on my group and I. Made sure we didn't go back up to our rooms after we checked-out (had them hold our luggage since our flight was later and we wanted to get Sunday Brunch). Here's the situation, the lobby is on the first floor. The restrooms are on the second floor. My friend and I needed to use the restroom after we had already checked-out so went up. Hotel Nazi sends someone up there a minute later to make sure we didn't go back in our rooms!?! I don't know. Seems weird. Not only that, Hotel Nazi had attitude when I was checking out. World: you lose nothing by being nice! Anyways, I really do love the hotel but the service needs much improving. There are so many great hotels in NYC, so I'm not sure if I will return to this one.

Ace Hotel New York
Although only a few weeks old when I came to visit last May, the hotel made a lasting impression. The decor and ambiance really spoke to me. Cozy, warm, utilitarian, americana, clean, yet aesthetically pleasing to even the most avant garde of aesthetics. I really enjoyed the spacious lobby. Seems like a great place to read a book, browse the internet, do some work, etc (exactly that from what I hear and read). Breslin, Opening Ceremony, Project No. 8, Stumptown, and No. 7 Sub was not opened when I stayed last May, so it gives me even more of a reason to come back... very curious to know how much the hotel has progressed from last year...

I love hotels. Old. New. Cute. Small. You get the point? I love hotels of all shape and sizes. So, when I heard the Ace Hotel was opening an outpost in Palm Springs? I knew I had to go. My first trip to the Ace Hotel was back in March. While it had a lot of kinks that needed to be worked out, I still loved it enough to return this past weekend (June 27-28). So, a few of my friends and I headed out for a relaxing weekend in Palm Springs (much needed after going to the Electric Daisy Carnival the night before). We were glad we did...
